AUBURN – The Auburn Avalanche Peewee House Hockey Team pushed its unbeaten streak since the end of November to 10 games (7-0-3) with a tie and a win over the weekend.
Auburn skated to a 1-1 tie against Central Maine White on Saturday. Tanner Ramich lit the lamp for the Avalanche. Jacob Grenier snagged the equalizer for Central Maine. Stingy defense by Auburn and tough goaltending by Central Maine made for an exciting contest.
On Sunday, the Avalanche let a two-goal lead evaporate with under two minutes to play, only to respond in remarkable fashion to defeat the Western Maine Wolverines, 4-2, at Bridgton Academy. Auburn took the lead with goals by Branden Dyer (unassisted) and Ryan Lavoie (from Dyer).
The Wolverines got on the board with 1:26 to play courtesy of Michael Bruno’s unassisted goal. Jordan Kruger tied it 12 seconds later on an assist from Nicholas Bowie. Auburn fought back with two goals in the final minute of regulation by Dyer and Lavoie, the latter assisted by Kyle Knight.
