AUBURN — The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston has postponed its annual Hall of Fame celebration, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 6. The new date has not yet been set, but it will be in the new year.
The decision to postpone is based on the impact of flooding over the weekend of Nov. 18-19,when roughly 12 feet of water filled the basement and damaged the building’s boiler and electrical systems.
“This annual event is very important to us, and we want to make sure it receives the utmost care and attention,” Steve Wallace, CEO at the Y, said in a written statement. “Postponing this event will allow us the time to properly prepare and honor our inductees.”
In 2018, the YMCA will celebrate 150 years as part of the Auburn-Lewiston community and plans to combine the Hall of Fame induction with an anniversary celebration. Details will be updated at www.alymca.org.
