POLAND – Poland scored five runs in the second inning without the benefit of a hit and coasted to a 10-5 triumph over Yarmouth.
Four walks, three errors and one hit-batsman produced the second-inning eruption. The Knights (14-1), the No. 1 team in Western Class B in the latest Heal Point standings, were limited to four hits, but took full advantage off 11 walks issued by three Yarmouth pitchers.
Alex Smith doubled for Poland and scored an insurance run on Stevie Ray’s single in the sixth.
Joe Douglass, Jake Pelletier and Will Griffiths shared pitching duties for Poland.
Livermore Falls 8, Boothbay 5
LIVERMORE FALLS – Brad Bryant socked a three-run home run in the sixth inning to power Livermore Falls to a 8-5 triumph over Boothbay.
The two teams combined for four home runs.
With the game tied at 4-4, the Andies (9-6) took the lead for good when Dean Hanson knocked in Bryant on a safety squeeze. One inning later, Bryant then provided some breathing room with his three-run homer.
Eric Rigo belted a pair of solo home runs and Roy Arsenault added a three-run shot for Boothbay (2-11).
Bryant fanned 10 to improve his record to 4-2.
Monmouth 2, Dirigo 1
DIXFIELD – Cameron Saucier scored the eventual game-winner in the second inning as Monmouth edged Dirigo 2-1.
The Cougars (4-10) were held to six hits. Gavin Broomhall led off the top of the fourth with a single, stole second and scored on a single by Dakota Holmquist to cut the lead in half.
The Mustangs (12-2-1) scored in the first and second innings. Saucier led off the second with a walk and advanced to second on a fielder’s choice before Josh Parsons tapped an infield hit to put runners on first and third. The run scored on when Devin Robbins grounded out to short.
Brunswick 7, Mt. Blue 5
FARMINGTON – Nate Washrobe had three hits to lead Brunswick to a 7-5 victory over Mt. Blue in nine innings.
With the score tied at 3-3, the Dragons (10-5) took advantage of Mt. Blue miscues and pulled ahead with four unearned runs.
The Cougars (9-6) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and tied the contest in the bottom of the sixth. After giving up four runs in the top of the ninth, Mt. Blue came up short with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame.
Adam Wallace, who went the distance for the Cougars, allowed one earned run.
Lacrosse
St. Dom’s 10, Wells 6
WELLS – Ben Shaw and Kevin Laplante notched a hat trick each to lead St. Dom’s to a 10-6 win over Wells.
The Saints (7-4) improved as the game progessed, while the Warriors (2-10) consistantly fell off their first quarter pace when they outscored St. Dom’s 3-1.
The Saints trailed 5-4 at intermission, but came back to tally four goals in the third and another pair in the fourth frame.
Brian Kasabian recorded 18 saves for the Saints.
