RUMFORD – Christie Lachapelle pitched 16 long innings and scored the winning run as Hall-Dale pulled off a 3-2 victory over Mtn. Valley in MVC softball action Tuesday.

The game remained scoreless through the first seven innings before the Bulldogs (10-6) were able to plate a pair of runs in the eighth. The Falcons (4-9) responded in the bottom of the frame with run-scoring hits from Kaly Bernard and Felicia Bell.

The dueling pitchers went another seven innings without giving up a run. Lachapelle lead off the 16th inning with a single, advanced on an error and scored the eventual game-winner when Lindsay Bynum accounted for the Bulldog’s ninth hit of the game.

Lewiston 6, Westbrook 1

LEWISTON – Katie Morin broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth inning that sparked a six-run outburst and lifted Lewiston to a 6-1 victory over Westbrook.

Amanda Michaud led off the inning with a triple and scored on Morin’s base hit. Shannon Godin later chipped in with a two-run double.

Morin (1-1) limited the Blue Blazes to two hits.

A pair of errors led to Westbrook’s lone run, scored by Chelsey Lawrence in the fifth.

Mt. Abram 9, Jay 7

JAY – Sadie White led off the eighth inning with a triple and scored on Lanie Roy’s single to break a deadlock and send Mt. Abram to a 9-7 extra-innings victory over Jay.

Ashley Galssandro smashed three hits, including a double, and added two RBIs. Repeat hitters for the Roadrunners included Sadie White, who had a triple and single, and Lanie Roy, who also had two RBIs.

Jay’s Ashley MacDonald had an RBI and two singles.

Leavitt 2, Skowhegan 0

TURNER – Gretchen Conn singled with the bases loaded in the third inning to knock in the only two runs of the game to lead Leavitt to its 2-0 shutout Tuesday afternoon.

The two runs was all pitcher Sam St. Hilaire required. Margeaux Schutt had Skowhegan’s only base hit of the game.

Winthrop 5, Dirigo 4

WINTHROP – Martha Sirois scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Winthrop a 5-4 victory over Dirigo.

Sirois led off the inning with a single and reached third on Katie Wing’s sacrifice before scoring the game-winner.

Dirigo had tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh on Kaylaeyh Daily’s RBI single that drove in Brooke Weston.

Meg Lynch of Winthrop (9-4) knocked in four runs.

Gray-NG 5, Poland 3

POLAND – Gray-New Gloucester built a five-run lead and held off a late surge to edge Poland 5-3 in WMC softball action.

The Patriots (11-5) pounded out four of their six hits in the second inning when they scored four times to grab a 5-0 advantage. Poland (4-12) scratched back with one in the fourth and two more in the sixth, but GNG pitcher Kelly Bergman prevented further damage.

Meghan Ford had two hits for Poland.

Buckfield 29, Rangeley 0

BUCKFIELD – Daniele Buswell hurled a no-hitter and struck out 14 batters in five innings as Buckfield coasted to a 29-0 thumping of Rangeley in an EWC softball game.

The Bucks (11-2) scored all those runs without the benefit of an extra-base hit. Lindsay Marston led Buckfield with four hits. Colleen Violet chipped in with a pair of hits. Emily Johnson knocked in a run with a suicide squeeze in the fourth.

Rangeley did not commit an error.

Monmouth 10, Lisbon 9

MONMOUTH – Bekah Bubier’s bunt down the first-base line plated Katie Stinson with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Monmouth a 10-9 victory over Lisbon.

Stinson led off with a bunt single and raced to third on Kayla Chick’s bunt to set up Bubier’s heroics.

Steph Coffin led the Greyhounds with three hits. Bubier had two for the Mustangs.
