RUMFORD — Bernadette Coulombe, 92, formerly of Franklin Street, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Rumford Community Home following a long illness.

She was born in Nova Scotia on Feb. 23, 1925, a daughter of William and Marie (Hache) Doucet.

Bernadette was employed as a certified nursing assistant and also worked in retail. In her retirement, she volunteered at her church and in the community.

She was a communicant at Parish of the Holy Savior, and was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Bernadette was a loving wife and mother who had many talents, including cooking, baking, sewing and knitting.

She is survived by her children: Robert Richard and wife, Susan, of Belfast; Elaine Daigle of Rumford; Shirley Richard Arsenault and husband, Jeffrey, of Rumford; Lydia Schmersal and husband, Christopher, of Winthrop; Fay Gallant and husband, Robert, of Wheelock, Vt.; Nicole Phelps and husband, Kerry, of Vermont; Justin Coulombe and wife, Kip, of Seffner, Fla.; and Christian Coulombe and wife, Angela, of Winn; a brother, Armand Doucet of Canada; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Joseph Y. Richard, in 1969; and a second husband, Clement Coulombe, in 1990; a sister, Germaine Doucet; and seven brothers: Alec, Arthur, Gerard, Joseph, Dennis, Fernand and Phileas Doucet.
