MANASSAS, Va. — Elizabeth Williams Barton died Dec. 20 in Manassas, Va., of a heart attack following a long struggle with bipolar disorder.
Born Sept. 7, 1946, to Frances (McLean) and Elwood Williams III, Libby earned her bachelor’s degree at Skidmore College, master’s degree in education at Western Michigan University and master of business administration from the University of Maryland.
She was the first female athletic director at Sidwell Friends School and at the Interstate Athletic Conference in Washington, D.C. She later became an administrator at Georgetown University.
Two siblings survive: Anne Williams and James Williams, both of Lewiston.
