DEAR SUN SPOTS: My father-in-law called me last evening and told me about a reader who has a couple old publications from the Naval Air Station in Brunswick. I am interested in them for the museum that is being built where the church was located. I was stationed at NASB from 1985 to 2007. My phone number is 607-1860.

ANSWER: In the Sun Spots’ column of Jan. 15, a reader was offering up “The Buccaneer” U.S. Naval Air Station, March 15, 1946; “The Mock-Up Extra,” Aug. 14, 1945; “The Naval Reservist,” Oct. 1946; and Stories of Bermuda Triangle and War Ends stories. The reader did not include a contact number but hopefully he or she will give Cliff a call.
The Brunswick Naval Museum & Memorial Gardens is in the process of collecting memorabilia and documents. The museum’s website at www.brunswicknavalmuseum.org explains that organizers are striving to establish the first museum in the world to document and preserve the history and legacy of maritime patrol aviation, most specifically the role played by this base that brought tens of thousands of military personnel and their families to Maine.
The museum is at the site of the former chapel at 179 Admiral Fitch Ave. To contribute items, find out more information, and to explore volunteer opportunities, email info@brunswicknavalmuseum.org or call 729-7216.

ANSWER: I just love this organization! They have helped thousands of seniors and have been extremely responsive to assisting Sun Spots over the years as well. It’s estimated that SeniorPlus fields over 10,000 phone calls every year in their effort to help seniors by connecting them to information, resources and services. If you are a senior and haven’t checked them out, you must!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank your readers for their generosity to Turner Elementary School and Tripp Middle School for sending their Box Tops for Education. We are halfway through the school year, so if you have box tops you would like to donate, please mail them to Laurie Labbe, 5 Brookfield St., Turner, 04282
— Laurie, Turner
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a box of sheet piano music for voice, mostly from the early 1900s, World War I era. Some sheets are in very good condition and others are a bit fragile. I would hate to take it to the dump. It’s free for anyone who wants it. Call me at 375-4894.

ANSWER: What a rare and beautiful gift you are offering! If you don’t get any takers on this, Kay, you may want to offer it to an artists’ co-op or high school or college-level art class. I have seen some beautiful paintings done on sheet music as well as origami and collages made from it.
Think outside the box, readers!
