LISBON — Lisbon came roaring back in the fourth quarter after being down 14 at halftime to force overtime, but a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer was the difference as Spruce Mountain came away with a 52-49 win in Class B South boys’ basketball Wednesday.

Brett Frey led all scorers with 19 for Spruce Mountain (11-2), followed by Mason Shink with 13 and Andrew Shaw with 10.

Jonah Sautter paced Lisbon (6-7) with 16 in the loss.

Oak Hill 50, Mt. Abram 47

STRONG — Oak Hill used a strong third quarter to propel itself to a 50-47 victory over Mt. Abram in boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

Darryn Bailey led Oak Hill (4-7) with 19 points, including seven free throws. Cohen Donnell added 14 in the win.

Sam Stoner led Mt. Abram (1-13) with 17 points.

Poland 57, NYA 45

POLAND — With only a slim five-point advantage after the half, Poland used a 20-12 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 57-45 boys’ basketball win over North Yarmouth Academy on Wednesday. 

Isaiah Hill led the Knights (2-10) to their second win of 2017-18 with 20 points, while Tyler Tucci chipped in 12. 

North Yarmouth (4-10) was paced by Te-Andre King with a game-high 29 points. 

Mountain Valley 62, Monmouth 41

MONMOUTH — Mountain Valley jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first frame Wednesday and cruised to a 62-41 victory over Monmouth in boys’ hoops action. 

Michael Pare led the Falcons (9-6) with 14 points, and Keegan Davis chipped in 11. 

The Mustangs (3-11) were paced by Connor Davies with a game-high 15 points, while Gabe Martin tallied 12. 

Gray-New Gloucester 66, OOB 34

GRAY — Zac Brady led a powerful two-man attack for Gray-New Gloucester, which hustled to a 66-34 boys’ basketball rout over Old Orchard Beach on Wednesday.

Brady led the Patriots with 19 points, while John Martin chipped in with 17.

Old Orchard was paced by Ian Regan with a solid 14-point effort, the team’s only player to reach double figures. 

Telstar 62, Carrabec 55

BETHEL — Telstar held off a late-game charge from Carrabec to earn the 62-55 win in a Class C South boys’ basketball matchup.

After Telstar (5-9) amassed a 15-point first quarter lead, Carrabec came back and made it close for much of the contest. Jarrett Bean led Telstar with 22 points, highlighted by four 3-pointers, and also grabbed 12 rebounds. Blake Rothwell chipped in 18, along with six assists.

Evan Holzworth paced Carrabec (4-10) with 19 points.

Madison 45, Dirigo 31

DIXFIELD — After building a six-point lead in the first half, Madison used a 13-8 late rally to secure a 45-31 win over Dirigo in a girls’ basketball matchup Wednesday. 

Lauren Hay led the powerhouse Bulldogs (11-2) with 14 points, while Sydney Leblanc chipped in 13.

The struggling Cougars (2-12) were paced by Alexa Perreault with a solid seven-point effort. Alyssa McTyre and Alexa Varnum each added six points.   

Oak Hill 48, Mt. Abram 34

WALES — Oak Hill built a solid 14-point advantage in the first half and managed to hang on for a 48-34 girls’ basketball victory over Mt. Abram on Wednesday.

Desiree Dumais led the Raiders (10-4) with 17 points, while Sara Moring added eight. Kaitlyn Ridley and Abigail Nadeau also contributed with strong offensive rebounding.

Mt. Abram (6-7) was paced by Summer Ross with a solid 14-point performance, while Camryn Wahl chipped in eight points. 

Carrabec 43, Telstar 27

NORTH ANSON — Bailey Dunphy led a group of nine players to score points Wednesday as Carrabec hustled to a 43-27 girls’ basketball win over Telstar. 

Dunphy led the Cobras (6-8) with 11 points, while Mackenzie Baker tallied eight. Maddie Hughes and Olivia Fortier contributed seven points apiece. 

The struggling Rebels (1-13) were led by Luci Rothwell with a 16-point effort.

Hebron 32, Kents Hill 27

HEBRON — Hebron Academy overtook Kents Hill in the second quarter and held on to win 32-27 in a girls’ basketball contest Wednesday.

The Lumberjacks held the Huskies to three points in the second, outscoring them 12-3 to take a six-point lead into halftime.

Maddy New paced Hebron (6-3) with 10 points, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers. Franceska Halloran added eight points and made five steals, and Eliza Quinones pulled down eight rebounds.

The Lumberjacks earned their first win in three tries this season against the Huskies.

Tiffany McGhie topped Kents Hill (9-3) with 13 points, and Lauren Murray scored 12.

OOB 35, GNG 28

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Old Orchard Beach found itself down two points heading into the fourth quarter against Gray-New Gloucester, but the Seagulls outscored the Patriots 13-4 in the final period to earn a 35-28 win in a girls’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

Shani Plante scored five of her team-leading 11 points for OOB in the fourth. She made three 3-pointers. Emily Greenlee chipped in seven.

Bri Jordan led Gray-NG with 10 points.

Girls’ hockey

St. Dom’s 5, York 1

AUBURN — Avery Lutrzykowski recorded a hat trick in the second period Wednesday to propel St. Dom’s to a 5-1 victory over York in a girls’ hockey tilt.

Gigi Ouellette and Callie Samson also tallied for the Saints to complete the scoring. Sydney Bouchard scored the lone goal for York in the first period. 

Taryn Cloutier and Emma Theriault also contributed for St. Dom’s with assists. 

Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 4, Scarborough 0

LEWISTON — Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, shutting out Scarborough 4-0 on Wednesday in girls’ hockey action.

Sara Robert scored the first goal of the game for the Blue Devils, followed by goals from Brie Dube, Grace Dumond and Emma Begin.
