LEWISTON — Mary Jane Tremblay, also known as “Tante Jeanne”, 96, of Lewiston died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 23, at her residence following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Maine, on June 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Eloi and Eugenie (Pomerleau) and had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She was educated in Lewiston schools and was employed for a short time in the local textile industry.

Jeanne was a very delicate and passionate person all of her life. She was a dedicated Catholic with lots of faith. The best days of her life was being able to attend Masses at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul where she was a member.

She enjoyed traveling to Chicoutimi, P.Q., Canada, where her ancestors came from and most of all enjoyed her daily visits from her great-grand nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one sister: Laura Tremblay of Lewiston; five nieces: Laurette Poulin of Lewiston, Pauline Lagasse and her husband, Reginald, of Lewiston, Diane Nelson and her husband, Steve, of Minot, Laurieanne Hynes of Lewiston, and Susan Rosenbaum and her husband, Bob, of Florida; two nephews: Roland Tremblay and his wife, Claudette, of Lewiston, and Robert Tremblay and his wife, Lorraine, of Lewiston; many great-grand nieces and nephews; and many great-great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by six brothers: Joseph, Albiny, Mathias, Laurent, Armand and Edouard Tremblay, and by one sister, Bella Poulin.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care and support they have given to Mary Jane and her family.
