LEWISTON — A spokeswoman for Central Maine Power Co. said Sunday night that power outages in Lewiston on Saturday and Sunday were caused by a failed substation.
Thousands of CMP customers were without power Saturday afternoon, according to the spokeswoman, and more than 4,500 were in the dark Sunday evening.
Power was out on Lisbon and Sabattus streets and most of downtown. Most of the traffic lights in the area were also out during that time.
The CMP representative said repair crews were out Sunday evening attempting to fix the problem, and that power had been restored to 2,200 customers by 6 p.m.
