SCARBOROUGH — Michael A. Masselli, 79, of Scarborough died Thursday, Feb. 1, at home surrounded by family. He was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Lewiston, son of Thomas D. and Edith Hamel Masselli. Michael graduated from Lewiston High School and attended the University of Notre Dame. He served proudly in the Army Reserve. He was married to Barbara Callahan on June 22, 1963. Together they had four children and four grandchildren.
Michael was the president of Masselli Bros. Inc. in Lewiston, and then joined Jordan Meats Co. Inc. until his retirement.
Michael enjoyed spending time with family traveling by boat from Maine to Florida, on the “Empty Pockets.” If you didn’t find him on the ocean, you would find him on the golf course with the “French Connection” or spending time on the beach in Pine Point. Above all, time spent with family was what he treasured the most.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 55 years; his four children, Sharon Joncas and her husband Fred, of Scarborough, Tom and his wife Maria, of Falmouth, Tim of Portland, and Sheila, of Scarborough; four grandchildren, Kelsey Masselli, Domonic Masselli, Elizabeth Masselli and Hannah Joncas. He was predeceased by his parents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care Michael received at Maine Medical Center, with special thanks to Dr. William Lee, Dr. Andrew Corsello and Dr. Doug Sawyer.
