LIVERMORE — There are lots of sppokey features – zombies, werewolves, clowns, spiders – and more to be seen along a haunted trail.
It is definitely not for the faint of heart.
But if someone is into gory, bloody and scary … the trail might be for them.
Merry St. Pierre and a couple of family members of the Spruce Mountain High School Class of 2020 were working Monday on preparing for the Haunted Trail of Livermore. It is a fundraiser for the class.
The trail will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, (weather permitting) at the residence of Merry and Jeff St. Pierre at 97 River Road.
It will continue on Fridays and Saturday nights until Oct. 27. It will also be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Halloween, Oct. 31. Tickets are $13 per person if reserved in advance by emailing merrystpierre@gmail.com. Otherwise tickets are $15 at the gate. A website hauntedtrailoflivermore.com and Facebook page is halloweenhauntedtrailoflivermore if people want to check it out.
A less scary walk will be held for kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Halloween night. It is $5 per person.
The event is in its ninth year. The St. Pierres and their daughter LaDesta are involved in creating the spooky setting that winds through the garage and through the backyard, a house, and back around to the front yard.
Planning starts months ahead, Merry St. Pierre said.
Students and their families are involved to get the trail ready.
St. Pierre has nine large totes of costumes and lots of scary items to use on the trail.
The first room on the trail is a scene from the movie “Saw.” From there you walk into the backyard where a zombie area is set up.
“Each area has its own theme,” St. Pierre said.
The individual area themes include spiders, werewolves, butcher shop, body room, cannibals, clowns, scarecrows, psyche ward and nursery. The walk continues into the kitchen, witches’ room, hospital, pet cemetery, maze and freak show. There are also areas for circus, torture, toxic waste, haunted camp site, Cursed Corner Cemetery, which includes a hearse, autopsy room, Hell and more.
Strobe lights and scary sounds will add to the experience. Watch out, one never knows where a scary character is hiding.
“Each year you go in a different way,” she said.
Audrey Bamford of Fayette, the grandmother of class President Melissa Bamford, was in the garage hanging up costumes.
“She does an amazing job,” Audrey Bamford said of St. Pierre.
She takes all the scenes down so people never know it is there until the haunted season approaches.
