ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) – The Portland Sea Dogs took advantage of wild pitching early to score four runs in the first inning and two in the second in a 7-3 win over the Altoona Curve on Monday.

Altoona starter Mike Connolly walked the first three batters of the game and then hit Justin Sherrod with one out to force in a run.

Tony Schrager followed with a two-run single, and Dustin Brisson added an RBI groundout to make it 4-0. Kelly Shoppach stretched the margin to 6-0 on a two-run double in the second.

Connolly departed after two innings and six earned runs for Altoona. Portland starter Josh Stevens worked seven innings to pick up his league-leading seventh win, helping the Sea Dogs improve to 30-22.

Shawn Garrett went 3-for-4 and scored twice for Altoona (27-28), which lost its fourth straight game.
