DEAR SUN SPOTS: As Mainers file their income tax forms this season hoping for a big refund, they also have an opportunity to give back to those who have served in the military by donating part of their refund to the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery Fund. The fund supports the maintenance and preservation of Maine’s four veterans cemeteries. Last year, Mainers contributed almost $30,000. The Maine Bureau of Veterans Services is hoping to top that number this year.
Hundreds of thousands of Mainers have raised their right hand in service to their country and Maine’s four memorial cemeteries serve as the final resting place for more than 25,000 veterans. Accordingly, the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services is committed to ensuring they are honored and memorialized for their sacrifices.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for all your great information. I read your column every day. We’re breaking down an office and have a computer desk (60 inches by 28 inches, with hutch 60 inches by 6 inches by 24 inches and a credenza 30 inches by 20 inches by 28 inches, all in very good condition for any organization that can use them. We can take the hutch off the desk, but the items would need to be picked up. Please contact Judy or Wes at wsawyer5@roadrunner.com or 207-224-0354.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a third-grade student in northern Virginia. We’re doing state reports and I have chosen your state! I’m excited to learn more about the great state of Maine.
Information I gather will mainly be from books and websites, but I would also like to get information from Mainers. I’m hoping you’ll send me items to help me learn about the best things in Maine by sending me postcards, maps, pictures, souvenirs, general information, this newspaper article, or any other items that would be useful. Please mail them to Mrs. Robinson’s Class, The Langley School 1411 Balls Hill Road, McLean, VA, 22101. I really appreciate your help!
