A Dr. Seuss-inspired Maine homeowner tried to make over her screened-in porch several years ago. When Readfield interior designer Karen McPhedran got there, she found most of the walls — and a doorknob — had been painted the kind of bright yellow associated with canaries and bananas. The trim? Boysenberry purple. A friend of the homeowner hired her to fix it. (Tallwood Design)
