DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re writing in response to a letter published in Sun Spots on April 2 regarding the unfortunate closing of Central Maine Veterinary Hospital. After fielding many phone calls from panicked pet parents, we would like to assure all our loyal clients that Turner Veterinary Service is OPEN and happy to continue serving you and your beloved pets.

We would also like to invite former Central Maine Veterinary Hospital clients to call or visit our website to see if we can help with a tailored health care plan for your fur baby. We are open Mondays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our phone number is 207-225-2155 and our website is www.turnervetservice.com.

—Rhonda, LVT, Turner

ANSWER: Mrs. Sun Spots apologizes profusely for the confusion. I’m afraid the April 2 column headline, “Turner Veterinarian …” made readers think I was referring to Turner Veterinary Service. It is the former Central Maine Veterinary Hospital, also in Turner, that has closed. Turner Veterinary Service, located at 273 Auburn Rd., is alive and well and accepting new patients. Thank you, Rhonda for setting us all straight!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Will the city of Auburn hold a Spring Clean-up this year?

ANSWER: I called Auburn Public Works and unfortunately, there is no Spring Clean-up this year. According to their website, you can bring residential waste to the Public Services Garage located at 296 Gracelawn Road in Auburn, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. All residents must check in at the Public Services’ office before leaving items for disposal. If you have questions, please contact 207-333-6601 ext. 1132 or gcrane@auburnmaine.gov. Geri, the office manager, is always very pleasant and helpful.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re looking for Naval Reservists who served in Group NR Sima Norva, Det 201, who would be interested in a reunion. This would be for the years from 1960 through the 1980s. We traveled together to Portland during those years.

The reunion would be planned for the last of April or the first of May. If you were with that group and are interested, please contact Don Dean Jr. at 207-577-2720. We need your names and phone numbers so we may contact everyone as to the time and place of the reunion. Thank you for your response.

—Don, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank you for suggesting Hobby Lobby for framing pictures. Among the things that came to our house after my mother-in-law died was a rumpled old drawing of a house that had been drawn by a relative who lived in China in the 1860s. I took it to Hobby Lobby and the gentleman there explained how he would take the wrinkles out and get the drawing to lay flat. I now have a beautifully framed drawing to hang on my wall; much nicer than having it stuffed in a drawer.

ANSWER: It’s very gratifying to me to receive letters expressing the outcome of a suggestion or solution I have shared. I also like to do what I can to thank the often “unsung heroes” who are the service people behind the counters at our local businesses.

Thank you for taking the time to let me know Sun Spots helped you!
