LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its May programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The center will be closed Friday, May 18, and Monday, May 28.
Art class: Tuesday, May 15, Sarah Shepley helps women create paper art projects and books.
LUNAFEST!: Wednesday, May 16, 6:30 p.m. Nine short films by female filmmakers highlight women as leaders in society, The Public Theatre, 31 Maple St.
Women’s Healing Arts Circle: Thursday, May 17, Dr. Maryam Mermay leads a circle for women seeking to heal any source of grief through a life-giving and playful connection with the arts.
Sweet Dreams pillowcases: Thursday, May 24. The center will provide a few pillowcases, but bring your own and decorate with an assortment of ribbon, lace and paint.
Bingo: Tuesday, May 29.
Art Van: Wednesday, May 30.
May Birthday Celebration: Wednesday, May 30, 12:30 p.m.
Clothing Giveaway: Thursday, May 31.
A full calendar of events and descriptions of support groups is available at www.wisdomswomen.org. The center’s hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m to noon Friday.
All women are welcome. Programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily and the center has a shower.
The center is also seeking volunteer applicants for companions. The companion role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women. The commitment is a half-day weekly. Those interested should contact Executive Director Klara Tammany at 207-513-3922.
