PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Alfred Clavet Sr., 70, of Hartford passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 22, with his family beside him and his fishing pole in his hand.

He was born March 4, 1948, in Lewiston, the son of Edward and Blanche Clavet. Alfred worked in local shoe shops and woolen mills until his retirement at age 62.

Alfred loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and camping. Some of his fondest memories are fishing with his son, Freddie, in Jackman and Paris. Alfred also enjoyed riding his Harley, with great memories of riding with his daughter, Crystal, in Connecticut and great memories of fishing with his grandson, RJ, in Connecticut.

He was also a craftsman with woodwork, creating multiple woodcrafts for family members. He was the go-to guy for friends and family to bring their small-engine repairs to; he loved to tinker. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family

Alfred was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Blanche Clavet; three brothers, Roland, Garard and Maurice Clavet.

Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pauline Clavet, of Hartford, where they resided; his son, Alfred (Freddie) Jr., and his wife, Laurie, of Hartford; his daughter, Crystal Kinney, of Portland, Conn.; five grandchildren whom he cherished, Chelsea Crowell and her husband, Bradley, of West Paris, Rodney Richardson and his fiancee, Jylynn Marie O’Brady, of Weathersfield, Conn., Heather Clavet of Hartford, Duncan and Christian Olaechea of Portland, Conn.; four great-grandchildren whom he adored, Raiden, Kinsley, Levi and Lacey; three sisters, Theresa Tomasino and her husband, Mike, of West Monroe, N.Y., Lucille Gooldrup of Auburn and Annette Braxton of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
