SOUTH PARIS — Geraldine Rose Luxton, 85, of West Bethel, passed away Sunday, May 13, at Market Square Health Care Center.

Geraldine was born in Berlin, N.H., on June 19, 1932, to Roger (Pete) and Alice (Tatreau) Clough. Gerry grew up in the Bethel/West Bethel area. Gerry had muscular dystrophy all of her life and even though she didn’t complete high school she was an amazing learner, gleaning life skills and varied interests from others as well as on her own.

She married George Luxton, was a homemaker and raised two sons. She also was blessed to have the companionship and loving care of George (Joe) Howard for many years until it became necessary for her to reside at Market Square Health Care Center for the past 15 years.

Gerry was a great cook and loved to garden. She preserved her own fruits, vegetables and meats. She loved and surrounded herself with color and beauty which was reflected in her flowers, her paintings, her bead works, her clothing and accessories. She studied with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Gerry had a deep love of family and developed many long-term friendships over the years.

Gerry is survived by her sons, David (Debby) Luxton and Donald (Debbie) Luxton, both of West Bethel; grandchildren Faye Souve of Hanover, Adam and Wade Luxton of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Stanley Clough; and her sister, Carol Cox; also Thirza Herrick, Mabel Businkas, Rodney Kimball; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, and George and Joe; brother, Steven Clough, also Harry Kimball and Harold Clough.

A special thank-you to her caregivers at Market Square who were especially compassionate and caring, and to those who gifted her with visits, food, flowers and friendship.
