LEWISTON – The family of Shirley Shedd Walker, formerly of Lewiston, helped her celebrate her 100th birthday on May 11 in Niantic, Conn.
Mrs. Walker was born in Lewiston on May 15, 1903. She attended local schools, and she married Fred R. Walker, also of Lewiston, in 1921. Together they operated Walker’s Market on Main Street in Lewiston for many years before moving to Kennebunkport, then to Wells. Mr. Walker died in 1991.
Among the partygoers were her two children, Dorothy Marshall of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Fred Walker Jr. of Bozrah, Conn.; six grandsons, Bruce Marshall of Florida., David Marshall of Maine, Ken Walker of New Hampshire, Jeff Walker and Larry Walker of Connecticut and Brian Walker of Maryland; and five great-grandchildren, all of Connecticut.
The residents and staff of Camelot Nursing Home, where Mrs. Walker resides, observed her 100th year at a celebration on May 15.
