FARMINGTON – Awards were presented at the Old South Church following the March for Violence Free Communities on April 25th where two community members were recognized for their outstanding achievements in their work.
Detective David St. Laurent, sexual assault special investigator for Franklin County’s Sheriff’s Department, and Bonnie Lisherness, crisis response coordinator for Sexual Assault Victims Emergency Services in Farmington were given certificates of appreciation to acknowledge their personal and professional commitment to their work toward making Franklin County a safer place to live.
Both are members of the Sexual Assault Response Team, a group of area professionals that are first-responders for victims of rape, domestic assault, and other related violent crimes.
Also attending the award presentation was Genelle Gingras, the grandmother of Amber Pond. Eleven year-old Amber was murdered by her stepfather Dana McAlpine on June 30th, 1999. Later that year grants were awarded to fund a sexual assault and domestic violence special investigator position in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and a crisis response coordinator for SAVES.
