LEEDS – Residents of Spring Rock Park went on a trip via a slide presentation to Trinidad and Tobago recently.

Muriel Knowles and Debbie Mason gave the presentation on the Work and Witness Program. It was one of many trips for Knowles, but a first for Mason. They shared their impressions and told of the volunteer work they did there.

The group of 20 added a second floor to a church. The children in the area were excited to see new faces and found time to interact with the adults and teens, who passed out candy. One day they boarded a van and went to the city to shop and tour the island.

In the evenings after a shower and meal they sat around, sang songs and shared the story of Jesus with the pastor and members of his congregation. The 10 days spent there helped make the building available to the local people for a church, school and area to feed the hungry.

Members of the team have to pay their airfare as well as send ahead materials needed to complete some of the projects.

Knowles and Mason do fund-raisingprojects to earn the cost of their tickets. One is selling fresh strawberries to residents of Spring Rock Park. They also sell other berries.

After the presentation a light luncheon was held. There were about 24 present as well as some visitors from the community.
