AUBURN — In honor of “Be Kind to Animals Week” from May 5 to 9, the Greater Andrsocoggin Humane Society is holding an essay contest with the theme, “What My Pet Means to Me.”
Essays will be judged in each of the following categories: elementary school, middle school, high school and adult. Three winners will be chosen in each category. All winners will receive a professional portrait of their pet.
Winners will be featured in the Humane Society’s newsletter and posted on the Web site.
Each submission requires a $5 donation. In addition to the essay, each entry requires a photo of the pet and the appropriate category of the author, name address and phone number.
Send only photos that do not need to be returned. All entries must be received by April 25. Winners will be announced the week of May 5. Send entries to GAHS, Attn. Essay Committee, 3312 Hotel Road, Auburn, ME 04210
