The next meeting will be held on Saturday, April 12.

WILTON — Franklin Grange No. 50 met on March 8 at the Flagg home on Depot Street. The group enjoyed a potluck lunch prior to the 1 p.m. meeting.

Special guest presented was Mavis Lane, junior deputy of the Maine State Grange. Lincoln and Hazel Flagg were assistant and lady assistant steward pro tem. Glenda Gordon from Wilson Grange filled the chair of Ceres.

Mavis and Wesley Lane were the judges for the Committee on Women’s Activities contests. Winners for the men in the apple squares contest were Mike Flagg, first, and Lincoln Flagg, second. For the women, Hazel Flagg took first with Thelma Frost and Olive Toothaker tying for second.

Cupcake winners for the men were Mike Flagg, first, and Lincoln Flagg coming in second. For the women’s division of the cupcake contest, Karen Flagg took first with Hazel Flagg coming in second.

Silver march winners were Eva Jewell, Glenda Gordon and Olive Toothaker.

Helen Bubier’s opening thought for the lecturer’s Irish program was, “Wisdom doesn’t automatically come with old age. Nothing does – except wrinkles.”

Thelma Frost entertained with a medley of songs on her keyboard.

Tippy Tracy did a reading, Lincoln Flagg and Wesley Lane did a skit and jokes were provided by Mike and Karen Flagg. The closing thought was, “May your walls know joy, may every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility.”

Thelma Frost won the guessing game on how many M&Ms were in the jar.

The census was North Jay 2, Wilson 1, and Franklin 12. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, April 12, and will feature a Craft and Hobbies, Show and Tell. This should be the last meeting to be held at the Flagg home.

All are welcome to come to the noon potluck lunches followed by the regular meeting.
