LEWISTON – The Sun Media Group acquired the four newspapers held by Kirkland Newspapers, not the corporation itself. The corporation remains with owner Bill Kirkland. The four papers acquired by Sun Media are the Franklin Journal, Livermore Falls Advertiser, Penobscot Times and Rangeley Highlander. A reference to the purchase was unclear on Tuesday’s A1.
