LISBON FALLS — “Lisbon’s Catholics – Every Church A Basilica” is Lisbon Historical Society’s topic for their June meeting.

Julie-Ann Baumer will discuss her research on the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Wednesday, June 13, at the Lisbon Historical Society, 18 School St.

Her talk will include an historical overview of the basilica’s construction, its role as a regional cultural icon and some of the church’s local Lisbon connections.

“Growing up in Lisbon Falls, Holy Family Church always seemed huge to me,” Baumer says. “But spending so much time at the basilica, giant in comparison, helped me to better understand the role of local churches in the life of a community.”

Baumer, a Lisbon Falls native and resident, is a freelance writer and blogger. She also works as an insurance analyst. She serves on the Gendron Franco Center’s board of directors, has served on the Moxie Festival Committee and is involved in other local projects. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Boston.

Her talk will be held in the Lisbon Historical Society Archives located at the MTM Center in Lisbon Falls.
