MEXICO – Clarence Tompkins, owner of Tommy Guns Pit Stop, is scheduled to appear before selectmen Wednesday night to try to clarify issues that came up at an earlier board meeting that led to the denial of a liquor permit for his business.
The regular board meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room of the town office.
Selectmen denied the liquor license renewal for the Route 17 bar two weeks ago after a public hearing. Several neighbors complained of excessive noise and other matters at that hearing.
Also on Wednesday, the board will discuss a possible reorganization of the town’s recreational center and recreation park and Wellness Center in the recreation building.
Town Manager Joseph Derouche said the plan may include revised by-laws, new programs, and revised leases.
Other agenda items include: a report on progress on the economic and marketing plan, including cost for hiring a consultant to complete some parts of it; an update on Citizens Advisory Committee projects; information on the comprehensive plan; and several announcements of upcoming municipal events.
Closed door sessions following the public portion of the meeting are scheduled to be held on a personnel issue and on a possible business venture.
