RUMFORD – The Widows or Widowers Sharing will celebrate its 19th anniversary on Thursday, April 24, at the Rumford United Methodist Church. This will be a special catered dinner at noon. The program will be special music from the group “Silver and Gold.” All widows and widowers in the area are welcome and are asked to call Chairman Evelyn Charron at 364-8105 if attending, so that there will be enough food.
Coffee House
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Coffee House will present an evening of family entertainment. Now in its second season, the Dixfield Coffee House is located in the annex of the Dixfield Congregational Church and opens its doors one Saturday evening each month at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 are admitted free. The atmosphere is casual and friendly with snacks and candles on the tables and group seating that invites conversation. Desserts and coffee are sold before and during the entertainment.
On Saturday, April 26, Barney Martin, a native of Rumford and graduate of Mexico High School, will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Martin has had a successful career in music and acting. He is the son of the late and much loved Dr. Martin. Barney Martin has appeared in many movies, plays and commercials as an actor, and his music has taken him all over the country. He has performed twice as the opening act for Livingston Taylor, and has given concerts throughout New England, Colorado, Texas, Florida, the Bahamas and toured central France for a month.
