FARMINGTON – The Foothills Arts Center will hold its annual meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the organization’s new office at 138 Pleasant St. next to Meetinghouse Park. The public is welcome. The annual meeting is a special meeting of the board of directors, at which attendees will hear a review of the year’s work and take part in making plans for the future. Merrymeeting Bay

FARMINGTON – The Audubon Society will offer a program on Merrymeeting Bay at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in North Dining Hall of Olsen Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington. The program is free and open to the public. Merrymeeting Bay is where the Androscoggin and Kennebec rivers meet to form a 9,000-acre tidal estuary. The bay is a major way station for migrating waterfowl and other migratory birds, as well as a home to species of animals and plants found only in this kind of environment. Ed Friedman, chairman of Friends of Merrymeeting Bay, will share his knowledge of the natural history of the area and tell about the research and advocacy projects his group is carrying on. Through fee purchase and easements, Friends of Merrymeeting Bay has protected 445 acres in the estuary. It also conducts water-quality monitoring in the bay and promotes restoration of anadromous fish and of bald eagle populations.

New Sharon Days

NEW SHARON – New Sharon Days Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the New Sharon Congregational Church annex on Cape Cod Hill Road. In order for the town of New Sharon to have a great day on July 23, 2005, suggestions and ideas from everyone in town are needed. Hunters’ supper

NEW PORTLAND – A hunters’ supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the New Portland Community Church. Meals may be eaten at the church or taken to go. Menu includes baked ham with raisin sauce, potatoes, squash, cole slaw, homemade yeast rolls, assorted cakes and a beverage. A donation of $6 requested.
