FARMINGTON – The Maine Jazz Camp will return to Farmington for three weeks starting July 11. Under the direction of Christine Correa, the Maine Jazz Camp offers students the opportunity to work with well-known jazz musicians.
The faculty takes turns leading jazz performances, which are free and open to the public. The performances are held at 8 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, July 11 to 29, in Room C131 or in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington.
This year, the list of musicians includes Art Baron, trombone; Bill McHenry, tenor sax; Ben Waltzer, piano; John Carlson, trumpet; Andy Rathbun, tenor sax; Pete McCann, guitar; Frank Carlberg, piano; and Christine Correa, voice.
After July 11 performance locations may be obtained by calling 778-7611. A complete list of the faculty, and the nights that they will be leading the evening concerts, may be obtained online at www.ArtsInstitute.org. The camp accepts donations for student scholarships.
