STRONG – Several Strong residents said they’re interested in joining the Aurora Grange there. The Grange was in danger of closing due to a lack of participation, but a meeting Thursday night seems to have brought it back to life.
Approximately 15 people attended the meeting, said Evelyn Wilbur, a member of Mystic Valley Grange in East Dixfield and an affiliate member of Aurora. Many people, she said, didn’t know the Grange existed.
Grange Master Ron Cook of Avon was there and acknowledged the residents’ interest.
“It gives the Grange a chance to reorganize,” said Wilbur in an interview Friday.
Granges have its roots in agriculture, but have grown to provide services to 300,000 members nationwide in 3,600 communities, according to the national Grange Web site.
“The Grange provides opportunities for individuals and families … to build stronger communities and states, as well as a stronger nation,” according the organization’s mission statement.
