CHESTERVILLE – Law enforcement officers eradicated 60 marijuana plants in an operation Wednesday in Chesterville, according to Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Supervisor Gerry Baril.
Based on a yield of four to six ounces per plant, the value of the harvest is estimated to be $45,000 to $60,000, he said. The plants were found in a field near Route 2 just south of Farmington.
At about 12:30 p.m. during the operation, an agent on an all-terrain-vehicle heard a bullet whiz by his head, prompting state police to mobilize a tactical police force. Investigators searched for suspects from a plane and helicopter but were unsuccessful.
