FARMINGTON – A Canton man, who was originally charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in Jay, was indicted Monday on a lesser charge.
Craig L. Tracy, 21, was initially charged with gross sexual assault, escape and other crimes. He was under house arrest wearing an electronic monitoring anklet when the alleged incident occurred July 31 on Maxwell Road. He had about 22 days left of a six-month sentence for burglary of a motor vehicle.
On Monday, the Franklin County grand jury indicted Tracy on felonies of escape, aggravated assault, assault and tampering with a witness. He was also charged with misdemeanor furnishing alcohol to a minor, furnishing a place for a minor to consume alcohol, sex abuse of a minor and criminal restraint.
Tracy remains at Franklin County jail on $25,000 cash bail and $125,000 worth of real estate, and is expected to be arraigned on the indictment charges this week.
