Townspeople around the region have a chance Tuesday to elect people to represent them in municipal government and school affairs.

Fayette, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Rangeley and Wilton are among those that have candidates and school budget to decide.

In Fayette, voters will go to the polls from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to elect someone to fill a three-year selectman’s term and a three-year School Committee seat.

Two Fayette residents are vying for the selectman’s seat. Incumbent Selectman Tom Welch is being challenged for his seat by former Selectman Marty Rigoulot. Tina Mitchell is running for School Committee.

In Livermore, the polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Brettuns Community Building. Running unopposed for a three-year selectperson’s seat is incumbent Chairwoman Grace Jacques. Incumbent Selectman Wayne Timberlake is seeking a two-year position with no opposition.

There are four seats open for SAD 36 Board of Directors with only three candidates on the ballot. Cindy Young is seeking re-election to a three-year director’s seat but no one took out paper’s for the three-year term currently held by Kim LaVoie.

Ashley O’Brien and Rodney Newman are each unopposed for two-year terms.

Livermore Falls residents can vote between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Fire Station. Four people are vying for two three-year selectman’s seats. Only four people are listed on the ballot to fill six available SAD 36 seats, meaning two seats have no candidates.

Incumbent Livermore Falls Selectman Clayton Putnam is being challenged by Russell Flagg. Incumbent Selectman Jim Collins is being contested by former Selectman Bernal Lake.

In the SAD 36 races, no names are on the ballot for a one-year position. Jackie Knight and Fred Nadeau are seeking re-election to three-year terms on the board, but no one took out papers for the third available seat. And Eric Rodzen and Betsy DuBois are each seeking election to one of two, two-year positions.

Residents in both Livermore and Livermore Falls will also be voting Tuesday on SAD 36’s proposed $7.9 million school spending package for 2003-04. The amount is $60,775 less than the current $7.95 million budget.

Rangeley polls are open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Town Office. Voters have several candidates up for election, including selectman, School Committee and Parks and Recreation Committee. Two people are squaring off to fill a three-year selectman’s term. Incumbent Selectman Stephen Philbrick is being challenged by Richard Morton.

Four residents are vying for two, three-year School Committee seats. Cathy White, Russell Campbell, Rick Godaire and Russell Brooks are seeking one of the two positions.

Rudy Davis is the only resident who is on the ballot for the two available three-year terms on the Rangeley Water District. And Jim Jannace is the only resident who is on the ballot for two available three-year Sewer Commission terms.

But three residents are seeking one of two, three year positions on the Parks and Recreation Committee. Shirley Herbert, Joseph Fitzgerald and Anthony Jannace Jr. are seeking election.

Residents in Wilton have a contested selectman’s race and an uncontested SAD 9 director’s race. Voting hours are between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Town Office.

Leslie Brown, Michael Lilley and Keith Swett are vying for an open three-year selectman’s term. Jan Stinson is seeking election to the SAD 9 Board of Directors.

Wilton residents will also vote on SAD 9’s proposed $21.2 million budget for 2003-04, along with the other eight towns in the district. The budget reflects less than a 2.1 percent increase.
