LIVERMORE FALLS – Margaret Leclerc was re-elected chairman by the Board of Trustees when the Water District met Wednesday morning. This will be her fourth term as head of the district.
Serving with her will be Doug Burdo as superintendent and Cheryl Marceau as clerk/treasurer.
During this annual meeting, the trustees approved the operating budget for 2003 at $873,500, an increase of $25,000 over 2002.
Also approved was a $49,500 capital expense budget that will include a new one-ton truck, a pilot study for the use of carbon sandwich (to reduce impurities), and the Elm Street project in Jay, which involves the replacement of 1,150 feet of water main.
Approval was given to the latest revision of the terms and conditions under which the district operates from the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
George Merrill of North Jay will do the harvest of the Moose Hill wood lot. He has walked the area with Burdo and will be doing selective cutting, using techniques that will not disturb the property.
Burdo will contact the town of Livermore Falls to see if it has adopted a new shoreland zoning ruling that would allow cutting in the 75-foot, no-cut zone as long as it’s done on frozen ground and within a 10-year program.
Wright-Pierce will do a preliminary study on the Route 4 project for $750 and do the engineering for it for $18,000 to 20,000 for all three entities involved: the district, the Livermore Falls sewer and the Jay sewer.
No date has been set yet by the state for that construction.
