HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) – Baseball memorabilia collectors might profit from the misfortune of a Paterson drug store owner accused of selling samples of prescription drugs.

That’s because Bergen County prosecutors have seized William Stracher’s large collection of sports memorabilia from his Vermont home.

Authorities want the assests forfeited because they allege the 65-year-old bought the items to launder money.

The items include signed photos of 19th-century Hall of Famers, Boston Braves stationery with 27 autographs, original Yankee Stadium blueprints, signed bats and baseballs, and trading cards.

Authorities say Stracher may have sold illegally obtained prescriptions for about 10 years. A Wyeth Pharmaceuticals sales representative from Rahway is accused of stealing the samples and selling them to pharmacies at discount prices.
