GROTON, Conn. (AP) – State police and the Navy are investigating the death of a sailor at the Submarine Base in Groton.

Lt. James Stockman, a Navy spokesman, says the body was discovered in the sailor’s barracks at about 11 a.m. Saturday when he failed to report to duty.

Lt. Stockman says there were no obvious signs of foul play, but the case is being investigated by the State Police Major Crime Squad and the Naval Criminal Investigative Services.

The sailor was attached to a tenant command at the base. His name has not been released.
