LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – Laconia’s annual Motorcycle Week began Saturday under rainy skies – and with rain in the forecast for the next three days. Gov. John Lynch helped kick off the event Friday as motorcycles rolled into the Lakes Region.

The nine-day event is expected to draw about 375,000 enthusiasts.

Police are cautioning drivers – bikers and everyone sharing the road with them – to be careful. Last year, 10 bikers died in connection with Motorcycle Week. So far this year, eight bikers have died in the state. New Hampshire law doesn’t require helmets.
