CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – The House voted 325-28 Wednesday to spend $3 million helping New Hampshire’s dairy farmers cope with rising costs.
Supporters noted that farmers lost crops to bad weather last year and were unable to replant. They said farmers also need help with dealing with large increases in fuel, feed and energy costs.
Since milk prices are set nationally, New Hampshire’s farmers need state help, supporters said.
They said New York and Vermont have already enacted similar emergency relief.
