CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A Nashua couple has given $200,000 to the Franklin Pierce Law Center in memory of their daughter.

Alison Hayward, a lawyer who served poor and disadvantaged clients, died in 1998 at age 37. Her parents, Sidney and Ellen Curelop, want their gift to help other young lawyers pursue similar careers in public service.

Ellen Curelop says her daughter had a lot of energy and compassion and cared very much about people having equal opportunity.

The endowment will be used to fund the Loan Repayment Assistance Program at Franklin Pierce. The money will be awarded each year to recent graduates who demonstrate a commitment to social justice and public service.
