MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Last week they were on the front page as a hard-working couple that had landed a big contract to make pizza for Manchester schools.

The owners of Ma & Pa’s Kitchen were on the front page again Tuesday, in a story that says they have criminal records that the school district did not know about.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reported Roland White pleaded guilty three years ago and served prison time after his construction company took $25,000 for work it never performed. Alice White was convicted last year on allegations that she ordered three girls to steal jewelry from a Filene’s department store.

Mayor Frank Guinta says he’d like to see another vote on the $200,000 pizza contract.

The Whites say they made mistakes in the past, but that their new business is legitimate.
