Dear Sun Spots: Your help in the past has been wonderful, so I am here again hoping you will be able to help once again.
The Oxford County Fair Agricultural Society Museum is again having a Scarecrow Contest. This time there is a little twist. We will be auctioning off the scarecrows on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Agricultural Society Museum. We are hoping readers will join in the fun.
Scarecrows can be made by an individual or by a group (club, school, or just a group of friends). Make and bring a scarecrow to the Oxford Fair Sept. 12 to 15. They must be able to stand alone and be durable as they’ll be outdoors. Fairgoers are delighted with the scarecrows which stand by the museum near the Herb Garden. In order to know how many scarecrows to expect, please contact me if you wish to register. Items may be brought the day before on Tuesday or on Wednesday morning. I need to know of anyone choosing to bring theirs in on Wednesday as a pass will be needed. There is no registration fee.
The scarecrows will be on display from opening day until the auction. For further information or to preregister phone Joan Putnam at 665-2478 or e-mail jputnam@megalink.net with Scarecrow in the subject line. Thanks – Joan Putnam, Bryant Pond.
Dear Sun Spots: You have helped me in the past. I wonder if you or your readers can help me locate a manual for a MSN Picture It Publishing Platinum Edition, CD set:X06-07509 kit which contained seven CDs and a manual about an inch thick, which I purchased from Staples. I have since misplaced the manual and have been unable to contact Microsoft to see if I could purchase the manual so that I can use the somewhat old kit. Staples has not been able to help, as the kit is long outdated.
I am unable to access the third to the last CD and wonder if one of your readers would have such a manual they no longer have use for, or if someone would have the information on how to access the remaining CDs? – N.S.M., Lewiston.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots has learned from Microsoft that there are no manuals available. However, a customer service representative with Microsoft’s Order Desk Department says you should phone 800-936-5700 and ask for technical support. You should be able to receive over-the-phone assistance to help you read the CDs you mention above.
