BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) – A Brockton man arrested in his 8-week-old son’s hospital room faces charges for inflicting the injuries that sent the child to the hospital.

Shawn Hudson, 21, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on a charge of assault and battery on a child resulting in serious bodily injury, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz told The Enterprise of Brockton. The baby, Aidyn Casey Hudson, has been at the hospital since he suffered the injuries on Nov. 21.

Cruz said the baby’s injuries were “significant,” but he did not describe them.

The mother is not a suspect, Cruz said.

Brockton police, state police and the state Department of Social Services are investigating.
