BARTLETT, N.H. (AP) – Nancy Chandler, a former teacher, respected naturalist and wife of N.H. House Speaker Gene Chandler, died Wednesday.
Mrs. Chandler died at her home, with her husband, their sons and other family members by her side.
After graduating Salem State College in Massachusetts, Mrs. Chandler served in the Peace Corps in Africa, then moved to New Hampshire and taught at schools in Gorham, North Conway and Conway.
Mrs. Chandler started the first ski area nursery at Attitash in Bartlett, and after retiring from teaching, she led snowshoe tours and nature hikes, becoming one of the Mount Washington Valley’s respected naturalists.
Her funeral will be Saturday at Our Lady of the Mountains in North Conway.
