SOUTH PARIS — Celebration Barn Theater, 190 Stock Farm Road, presents Mike Miclon’s “The Early Evening Show,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, featuring folk singer Carol Noonan and show regulars Fritz Grobe, Shane and Collin Miclon, and the Early Evening Show Orchestra
“The Early Evening Show,” a spoof of late-night talk shows, has been performed from Maine to Switzerland and built its reputation with a 14-year run at the Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield.
Noonan’s voice has been compared to a young Joan Baez, or a voice from long ago. Noonan grew up in New England and attended New England Conservatory of Music as a classical voice major. She built her career first as the lead singer and songwriter for the band Knots and Crosses and then as a soloist. Knots and Crosses sold 20,000 albums independently, until they were briefly signed to Island Records. Noonan then went on to record three solo albums with the indie label Rounder Records. For the past 12 years, Noonan and her husband have run the acclaimed Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield.
The show’s wild improvisations, surprise guests and audience interactions have made it the longest-running live variety show in Maine.
Tickets to Mike Miclon’s “The Early Evening Show” are available for $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (60-plus) and $10 for ages 17 and under. All tickets are general admission; members receive priority seating. Lobby and concessions open at 6:30 p.m. Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended.
