On Tue., Jan. 20 the junior high of Saint Peter and Sacred Heart School went to the Auburn Land Lab and worked on team building. We went snowshoeing and we had to use a compass to find clues hidden among the trees on various points in the path in the woods. It was fun because we really had to work together to find our way through the woods.
There were inside activities that we did also. The first activity we did was key-punch. In key-punch you get a number and you have to count 1-3 and when they say your number you have to jump on the number and just the number not the floor around it. We were able to complete the task in 40 seconds once we got the routine down.
The next activity we did was we played mine field. This was a partner activity. One person had their eyes closed while their partner had to guide them through the mine with only words. If your partner touched any of the obstacles on the mine field then we had to start over. This really helped us to work on trust.
We also had to play a game called stepping stones and you had to take mats and step on them and couldn’t touch the ground and everyone had to go all across the floor about 30 feet and couldn’t let the mat go backwards.
This field trip was really fun and hard and we learned to work together.
