Animal shelters are packed to capacity in America. Little tails will never wag again. Sad eyes will never say, “I love this family” again. Lives will never be given a second chance because there is no room for them at animal shelters. Euthanasia is becoming part of our everyday speech.
These things seem scary, but there is something people can do to help. Donate! Adopt! The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is a good place to start. They must rely on donations to provide the care for the animals brought to them.
If one wants to adopt, this is the place to do it. They have dogs, cats, and small mammals. They are also trying to build a new shelter in Lewiston, so a little extra wouldn’t hurt.
If one would like to donate items, to follow is a list of things that would be helpful: towels, cat litter, blankets, dry dog food, dry cat food, dog toys, cat toys, laundry detergent, cedar cat litter and pet carriers.
The shelter is located at 3312 Hotel Road, Auburn, 04210. It is open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is also open Friday from noon to 5 p.m. It is open on Saturday too from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Sundays and holidays. I hope many little furry friends get adopted because of this article.
