NAPLES — Hwida Nawass scored the winning goal on a penalty stroke with 4:42 left in overtime to lift the Knights (1-1) to a 4-3 win over the Lakers (0-2) on Tuesday.

Lake Region led 2-0 at halftime on goals from Paige Davis and Kaitlyn Plummer, but Nawass scored at the 24:54 mark of the second half, then Olivia Bell tied the game less than three minutes later.

The Lakers took the lead again on a score from Delaney Mesrve, but Brianna Doucette scored with 9:13 remaining to tie it and force overtime.

Greely 3, Gray-New Gloucester 2

GRAY — Maddy Perfetti led a trio of players to record goals Tuesday as Greely narrowly defeated Gray-New Gloucester in an early-season field hockey matchup.

Hannah Perfetti and Megan Beaulieu also tallied for Greely (1-1) to round out the scoring.

Cassie Ward made five saves for Greely, while Mack Baston turned aside 10 shots between the posts for New Gloucester.

GARDINER — Sarah Foust and Haley Brann each had goals for the Tigers in the KVAC field hockey win.

Brann finished with a goal and an assist on the day for Gardiner (2-0), and Alyssa Gould made just one save to earn the shutout.

Mallory Casey made 10 saves for Leavitt (0-2).

SOUTH HIRAM — Paige Cote and Kylie Leavitt each scored two goals to propel St. Dominic to a 6-0 field hockey win Tuesday.

Gray-New Gloucester 2, Lake Region 0

GRAY — Laurel Thomas and Lydia Espling scored a goal each as Gray-New Gloucester dispatched Lake Region 2-0 in girls’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Goalie Madison Rock fended off 19 shots for Lake Region (0-1), while Chelsea Davis made a single save to earn the win in net for Gray-New Gloucester.

Boothbay 6, Dirigo 1

DIXFIELD — Reagan Cola scored four goals to lead Boothbay to a 6-0 victory over Dirigo in a girls’ soccer tilt Tuesday.

Olivia Paolillo added a pair of goals for the Seahawks to complete the scoring. Lillie Williams scored for the Cougars.

Emilie Crocker made four saves for Boothbay, while Katherine Morse turned aside 10 shots for Dirigo.

PORTLAND — Katy Henderson netted a hat trick while two of her teammates scored twice as Buckfield rolled to a 10-0 rout over Pine Tree Academy in goals’ soccer action Tuesday.

Hannah Shields and Molly Bourget scored two goals each for the Bucks (1-0). Single tallies from Sami Patenaude, Isabelle Laughton and Siana Jacobs completed the scoring.

McKenna Ridlon (1) and Ruby Cyr (2) combined forces to make three saves for Buckfield, while Briana Foley and Chloe DePalma turned aside a collective 15 shots for Pine Tree Academy (0-1).

BRUNSWICK — Anna Kousky registered a hat trick to lead Brunswick to a 9-0 romp over Edward Little in girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

RUMFORD — Mt. Abram doubled its halftime score and was able to squeak out a 4-3 girls’ soccer win over Mountain Valley on Tuesday.

Jade Davis and Alice Cockerham led the Roadrunners with two goals apiece, with Cockerham adding an assist on Davis’ second goal. Mt. Abram’s goalkeeper Emily Kidd saved seven of 10 shots on goal.

Mountain Valley was paced by Courtney Therrien’s two goals, but in the end it wasn’t enough. Emily Richard also got on the score sheet, while Sophie Ladd, Mikayla Burse and Saydie Garbarini all recorded assists. Goalie Taylor Henry saved 21 of 25 shots she faced over the afternoon.

LEWISTON — Reese Turcotte found the net just over two and half minutes into the second half to give Mt. Ararat a 1-0 early-season girls’ soccer win over Lewiston.

Abby Sirois made four saves to preserve the shutout, while Gemma Landry deflected 13 shots between the posts for Lewiston.

FARMINGTON — Lauren Merrill led a trio of players to record goals on Tuesday as Oxford Hills hustled to a 3-0 victory over Mt. Blue in early-season girls’ soccer action.

POLAND — Molly Sawtelle collected the final goal to cement a 3-1 victory for Traip over Poland in girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

The Rangers (2-0) also received offensive support from Sydney Auclair and Kathleen McPherson.

Poland’s Hannah St. Hilaire pivoted a relay from Leya Harvey into the back of the net midway through the contest to cut the Traip lead in half at 2-1.

Goalie Sophie Vallee made nine saves for the Knights, while goalie Abby Pitcairn repelled six to earn the win in net for Traip.

Winthrop 8, Hyde 1

WINTHROP — The Ramblers rolled with six goals in the first half en route to the MVC girls’ soccer win.

The Bucks (1-0) jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead. Noah Wiley, Victor Verrill and Dylan Harvey chipped in with a goal apiece for Buckfield.

Jahiesh Stewart scored all three goals for the Breakers (0-1), one in the first half and two in the second half.
