JAY — Peyton Gosselin scored the only goal with 11:32 remaining into the first half as Lisbon defeated Spruce Mountain 1-0 in an MVC field hockey contest Wednesday.
Sydney Plourde set up Gosselin’s goal.
Becky Budesheim was outstanding in net for the Greyhounds (4-4), making 15 saves. Melissa Banford made seven saves for the Phoenix (5-3).
Hall-Dale 3, Telstar 0
FARMINGDALE — Three different players scored as the Bulldogs earned their first field hockey win of the season, 3-0 over Telstar.
Lauren Hendrickson, Kaylee Ray and Averi Baker each had a goal for Hall-Dale (1-7-0), while Moira O’Connor and Hendrickson contributed one assist apiece. Mia Rollins and Kelsey Cormier combined to make nine saves.
Peary Morton stopped six shots for Telstar (0-8-0).
Boys’ soccer
Waynflete 2, St. Dom’s 1
PORTLAND — Askar Houssein scored twice in the second half, including the winning header off a cross from Ben Adey with nine minutes remaining, as the Flyers (4-0-1) rallied past the Saints (3-2-1) in a boys’ soccer game Wednesday.
Gaston Fuksa put in a shot from 20 yards, which as assisted by Ethan Bosse, six minutes into the contest.
Pat Shaw set up Houssein’s first goal nine minutes into the second half.
Aidan Carlise and Luca Antolini combined for four saves for Waynflete, while Matt Gosselin recorded 16 saves for the Saints.
Girls’ soccer
Hall-Dale 1, Spruce Mountain 0, 2OT
FARMINGDALE — Naomi Lynch headed home the golden goal with under a minute remaining in the second overtime period to lift the Bulldogs to the 1-0 MVC girls’ soccer victory over the Phoenix on Wednesday.
Iris Ireland assisted on the winner for Hall-Dale (5-2-0), and Maggie Gross made 10 saves to earn the shutout victory.
Spruce Mountain (5-2-0) got a 15-save effort from Annabelle Collins.
Madison 3, Mountain Valley 0
MADISON — Emily Edgerly scored two goals in Madison’s shutout win over Mountain Valley in an MVC girls’ soccer matchup Wednesday.
Grace Linkletter and Jerzey Tewksbury assisted on Edgerly’s goal. Landyn Landry added an unassisted goal for the Bulldogs (5-2).
Taylor Henry made 17 saves on 20 shots for the Falcons (1-7).
Oak Hill 7, Hyde 0
WALES — Abriana Deslauriers had a hat trick as Oak Hill defeated Hyde in a girls’ soccer contest Wednesday.
Julia Noel had two goals and an assist for the Raiders (5-2). Eliza Whisenant and Grace Woodard each added a goal.
Paige Gonya made five saves in the victory, while Teal McLane made 14 saves for Hyde.
Winthrop 3, Carrabec 0
NORTH ANSON — Aaliyah WilsonFalcone scored two goals to lead the Ramblers to the MVC girls’ soccer win over the Cobras on Wednesday.
Jillian Schmelzer added a goal and an assist for Winthrop (6-2-0), and Aislinn Slate made 10 saves.
Brooke Burnham stopped seven shots for Carrabec (2-4-1).
College field hockey
Thomas 5, Bates 2
WATERVILLE — Tiffany Weeks recorded a hat trick, Allie Gregoire had three assists, and the Terriers (3-5) held off Bates (0-3) in a field hockey matchup Wednesday.
Thomas opened a 3-0 halftime lead with two goals from Weeks and one from Kelci Faulkingham.
Britney Gregoire extended the Terriers’ lead early in the second half. The Bobcats countered with scores from Riley Burns and Victoria McGee before Weeks ended the scoring in the final minute.
