HARRISON — Helen Lewis passed away Friday, Sept. 28, peacefully in her sleep at Market Square Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Baldwin to Zella and Leslie Kenison. She married Roger Lewis of Harrison on Jan. 22, 1939. They had five children and lived all of their lives in Harrison. Her husband was killed when he was only 45 while working in the woods, causing her to raise five kids on her own. She was a very hard worker and took great pride in her family. She loved cooking and doing her fancy work. She was devoted to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Lewis and wife, Jane, of Oxford; Gordon Lewis and companion, Barbara, of Liberty; three daughters, Nancy Mayhan and husband, John, of Harrison; Susan Sanborn and husband, Jay, of Waterford; Cindy Richards and companion, Mike, of Bethel; grandchildren, Wayne Lewis and his children Megan, Jessica, Jake, Kayla and Eliza; Michelle Kimball and her sons Trevor, Tyler and Travis; John Mayhan and wife Jennifer and their daughter Nicole; Troy Mayhan and wife Ashley and their children Cameron and Landon; Melissa Richards and her son Elias; granddaughters, Amy Richards, MeChell Mayberry, Leslie Lewis, Kathy Lewis; her grandson Jeffrey Lewis. She had many other great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Roger.
Graveside services will be held at the Lewis Cemetery, Lewis Road, Harrison, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2.
